Community Programs

Wesley UMC is involved in the community in a variety of ways. As disciples of Jesus we believe that we are called to share the good news in our actions as well as our time of worship and study.

We host a variety of community groups who provide services in our area.  A variety of ministry groups work to make a difference for others in our area. Sandwiches are provided for the hungry, clothing is provided for others, backpacks with food are provided with food for children who lack food security, volunteers help to provide shelter for the homeless, and the sick are visited.

Green Team: Solar Power for a New Generation

We began our Solar Journey in 2010 by hosting a well-attended Solar Forum open to the public. In 2013 we installed our initial 8-panel system. In early 2015 we expanded to 22 panels. In November 2015, we received a Pacific Power Blue Sky Grant. On Earth Day, April 22, 2016, we held a “Solarbration” to dedicate our now 56-panel system.

Wesley’s “Green Team” is working with many projects to lead the church in caring for creation.  They have supported a community garden, improving the congregation’s sustainable practices in energy usage.

Blue Sky at Wesley

As Pacific Power customers invest in Blue Sky Blocks, they promote clean energy that helps preserve God’s Creation. Funds support renewable energy projects throughout our Pacific Power community. Purchases of Blue Sky Blocks helped fund the majority of Wesley’s 2016 solar addition, as well as projects at Yakima Valley College, Naches School District, and West Valley School District.
